Here I am, after a few months of digging into the world of machine learning and needless to say, I haven’t got anything special to showcase here. The machine learning world is so vast that it’s getting ridiculously impossible to learn everything in such a short time(that was my goal, funny), even with all the available resources online. To me, it seems tougher and tougher as each day passes by. But I tell myself that this is the future that everyone is talking about. And I don’t want to miss it.
Throughout the several short months of learning machine learning, I found that I was eager to see results that fascinate me instead of wondering how things could work out so well without me telling what to do(that’s machine learning!). But perhaps I did miss one thing from the videos and online tutorials — it’s the huge amount of response the audience give to these platforms because everyone is eager to learn and nobody is arrogant or of that sort. It was indeed fun to share the things we learnt and to remind people about how we can help solve some of the world’s biggest problems using machine learning. But I guess I would want to learn how I can integrate these techniques into websites, softwares or platforms. Which is why I decided to learn Flask.
Flask is a microframework for Python that is really well-built for developing fast and reliable web applications(or SPA, single-page applications). I had some experience with Python but it was nowhere near the level needed to develop websites. I know that if I go by building websites or web applications that could fit the needs of a small community, machine learning techniques would soon follow by and be in demand to make my product better. It’s definitely no guarantee that it would be true, but I think it’s worth trying. Plus, learning a new tech skill could really help a long way.
And because of this, I have set a goal, which is to commit to doing small projects which cover different parts of a web application, until I have it all figured it out on how I can integrate machine learning into a product that I would want people around me to use. Maybe it’s not gonna work, maybe it’s not going to look good, or maybe it’s not the right way, but I guess there is no right way. I gotta say, building something from the ground up and seeing the results with your own eyes is really satisfying. That is what I want to achieve: satisfaction.
